Pendeen, Cornwall: Beco’s solar division BecoSolar has successfully completed the installation of A 10.56 kWp roof integrated, grid connected, solar electric generating system at Pendeen Parish Members Institute. The system began exporting electricity to the national grid on 3rd August 2005, with the full approval of Western Power Distribution.
This clean, silent generator will produce in the region of 9,000 kWh per annum, a large proportion of this buildings requirements. The system will also negate the the production of over 4 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The solar array comprises 132 BP 80w solar laminates in Solrif frames. The modules are wired to 3 x SMA SB 3000 Inverters and 1 X SMA SB 1100 Inverter. The installation and commissioning was carried out over a period of 10 days by Beco’s own installation team, in conjunction with the main contractor, as part of a major refurbishment of the premises.
The system was funded by a grant from the Energy Saving Trust and a grant from the EDF Green Energy Fund.
